About Southbank News

The first Southbank News (formerly Southbank Local News) edition was published in October 2011. The local newspaper was established with the City of Melbourne's suburbs of Southbank and South Wharf (both postcode 3006) to serve the growing communities living and working in what was historically an industrial area. As Southbank has evolved into Australia's most densely populated suburb, Southbank News has sought to grow alongside it by providing regular news, updates and stories that matter to locals. In 2015, we expanded our remit to cover the growing community of Montague - a precinct in the Fishermans Bend urban renewal area - which incorporates parts of Southbank, South Melbourne and Port Melbourne.

Southbank News is printed monthly and 13,000 printed copies are distributed throughout Southbank, South Wharf and Montague, as well as specific outlets in neighbouring suburbs. Southbank News was established by Hyperlocal News, which also operates sister publications in Docklands, the CBD, the inner-city suburbs of Carlton, East Melbourne and Parkville, as well as the city's north-west region (North & West Melbourne, Kensington and Parkville Gardens), and is owned and published by Sean Car.

It is our job to inform the community of events, news and changes that are evolving around the area. We are a trusted source of information for residents, workers and visitors within the inner-city catchment of south of the Yarra River. We are the voice of the postcode 3006 and Montague.
