Cheap, chic and convenient clothes and accessories are literally just one click and an express post away.

With the number of online purchases being made daily skyrocketing, Australian labels and retailers are making the move towards online selling to feed the masses of ‘see it, buy it’ shoppers hungry for a quick bargain.

Online shopping has been around for a while now, yet never has a society gone more bananas over the trend until now. While Ebay, Amazon and Etsy et. al have been around for years, local business and boutiques are making the move online, marketing their brands via clever blog, Facebook and Instagram tactics.

The Iconic, Australia’s fastest growing online retailer, which boasts a three-hour delivery service for those in greater Sydney, celebrated its first birthday recently. How did they celebrate? With a $20 million dollar investment from international finance giant J.P Morgan. Not a bad first birthday present for the site that receives over a thousand orders a day.

In two minds about online purchases? The benefits are numerous: Firstly, there is the obvious luxury of being able to go shopping from wherever you want - your desk, the tram, or most likely, your bed. Credit card payments make the process as easy as tying your shoelaces and you’re able to do your research on different websites to compare prices.

There is also generally a greater colour and size selection online as opposed to in store. And who doesn’t love receiving a gigantic package with their name on it in the mail? Online shopping is a hedonistic indulgence, but after all we are a nation of good times and lazy days so there’s really no need to feel guilty there.

A last piece of advice is to exercise some semblance of patience with the process. Unlike traditional in-store shopping, you are not going to get your item instantly. Like The Iconic, a lot of brands do offer super speedy shipping times but you are going to have to resign yourself to the fact that the outfit you fell madly in love with and gleefully purchased for a steal from Asos, won’t be in your hot little hands for 5-10 business days.
