How would you like to lose those excess Christmas kilos without having to exercise yourself to exhaustion?

It’s not a gimmick, it is simply an understanding of nutritional science, says Travel Doctor Plus + clinic manager Jane Daniels.

The clinic’s “Eat Well” program appeals equally to men and women with inner city apartment lifestyles, says Ms Daniels, and adds to the regular GP services and travel vaccinations and advice.

“Everybody has a focus on losing weight these days – even the government is pushing it,” she said.

“Our program focuses on the key things: you do have to do some exercise - but not like most people think – but you really need to focus on the diet/nutrition side of things.

“People don’t understand the ‘science’ in food and eating.”

The Eat Well program runs over 12 weeks and involves seeing a dietician four times in that period, weekly face-to-face contact with a nurse, and having milestones checked.

“We have 70 per cent meeting their goals, which include lowering cholesterol, being overweight, an incorrect diet etc,” Ms Daniels said.

“Chloe McLeod is our dietician. You don’t need a GP referral, you just ring and make an appointment.”

Travel Doctor Plus + has male and female GPs, headed by Dr Verena Doolabh, and nurse Sarah Arkley.

The clinic also specialises in skin checks.

“And don’t forget your flu vaccination, when we head into the flu season,” Ms Daniels said.

“I want to assure everyone in Southbank that you can come here for your travel health and general practice medicine. You don’t have to go all the way into the city.”

The Travel Doctor Plus + is located on the walkway next to the Medibank building at 700 Collins St, Docklands. It is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am-5pm, call 8622 6333 or go to www.docklandsmedical.com.au
