Alex Fogarty and her beautiful Kelpie Cross Border Collie Alice are out and about making the most of the rare Melbourne sunshine.

Alice wanders along Southbank with no lead and playfully frolics by the river while her doting owner keeps an eye on her.

“Alice was given to me as a Christmas present eight years ago. She came in a Christmas bag. She was eight weeks old,” Alex said.

Alex was born in NSW but has lived in Melbourne for 49 years. She works as a barrister and moved to South Yarra about two years ago with her two sons. She loves that she can easily walk into the city, with loyal Alice by her side.

Alice is a working dog whose mother and father were working sheepdogs in north-east Victoria.

“When she was about 10-weeks-old I couldn’t find her, and she had gone and rounded up all the cattle by herself ... it’s totally and utterly in her blood,” Alex said.
