Second Wedding Singer

Musical comedian Simon Hill has created a show to serenade re-coupling for those who are looking to another chance after divorce as the “Second Wedding Singer” at Melbourne Recital Centre.

Hill is perhaps best known as Yon from the musical comedy trio Tripod, which emerged from the Melbourne live music pub scene of the mid-90s, but will be backed by his eight-piece brass band, the Brass Ring, to remind you at your second wedding that this time down the aisle, it will be better.

“I’m at an age where a lot of my married friends are in all kinds of stages of having just split up, probably looking to, or should, or never will,” Hill said.

17-years-married himself, the comic said: “The show is very much about change and how people grow up and grow out of other people.”

The show features songs like My Parents’ Breakup (Was Better Than Your Parents’ Breakup), Guilt is My Engine and Left Out of a Threesome, and may also feature some audience participation.

The concert, written by Hill himself, will be directed by Alan Brough, a fellow musical comedian and is arranged by Australian composer Brenton Broadstock.
