Warm autumn networking nights

As the weather cooled down across Southbank, the opportunities for networking warmed up, with two spectacular events back-to-back giving Southbank businesses a great chance to meet peers.

The Yarra River Business Association (YRBA) held its autumn networking event at the Mission to Seafarers in Docklands during May.

Despite a slightly smaller than expected turn out, the attendees were treated to a guided tour of the heritage-listed building, samples of three curries, a few drinks and entertainment from former Sports front-man Steven Cummings.

In between there were plenty of opportunities to network, meet and get reacquainted with members of the YRBA as well as many of the executive committee.

The YRBA’s executive officer Tim Bracher said the event was a great opportunity for members and showcased the commitment of members.

“Despite the early arrival of winter and a heavy downpour during the day, a solid group of members enjoyed the unique location and the great atmosphere of the mission building,” Mr Bracher said.

“The association is trialling a more social approach to its networking functions and our winter members’ event will be a progressive dinner, sampling some of our great Southbank restaurants,” he added.

Just a day earlier, another group of networkers gathered in the lofty heights of Eureka 89, the function room above (yes, above) Eureka Skydeck.

The Eureka lift refuses to travel all the way up to 89 but this didn’t stop this group from enjoying the views and canapes whilst exchanging contacts.
