Businesses in Southbank

SNAP Fitness club manager David Bratton is excited to be bringing his passion for health and fitness to Southbank residents.

Originally from Brisbane, the 24-year-old said he moved from Sydney to Melbourne last year as he sensed there was a need to establish a club for people in Southbank.

“I’ve been with SNAP for about four years now and have managed around 25 clubs across the country,” he said. “I went down to Sydney and opened up eight clubs for another owner and then decided I wanted to open up my own club.”

“I like Southbank because it’s very dense and there are a lot of businesses around here. Along with it being the densest suburb in Victoria, I thought this was a good place to open up shop.”

Mr Bratton said that, while it had been a bit of a journey setting up the business, which only opened its doors in November last year, his decision to establish a gym in Southbank was already paying dividends.

“The people in Southbank are very friendly and we’ve got a lot of people that always turn up as well so we don’t really have that many members that just join and don’t come,”
he said.

“We’re always getting a lot of people coming. Sometimes we have 20 people in the gym at once. All of our personal trainers are always busy as well.”

Upon walking into the Queensbridge St studio, it is hard not to be impressed by the state-of-the-art and spotless nature of the facilities and the equipment.

Mr Bratton said SNAP Fitness also offers the lowest rates of any gym in Southbank and surrounding areas as well as a no contract membership structure.

Mr Bratton said the clean, open and relaxed environment was already generating positive feedback from members.

“Being new and not having a lot of members from the start, all the members can get whatever piece of equipment they like,” he said. “We’ve had some really good feedback about how clean the club is all the time.”

“We’ve got three personal trainers here as well and everyone that joins gets free personal training from the start as well.”

“So we’re not joining people up and leaving them in the dark. We’re following up over the next couple of months to ensure everyone stays as a member as opposed to cancelling.”

Mr Bratton said, as of February, the club was now also offering a range of classes in a bid to further enhance the experience for all of its members.

“We’re running classes as of the first of February and that’s all included in their membership so all the classes are free,”
he said.

“We’re going to be doing boot camp classes down at the parks and we’re also going to be doing boxing classes and circuit classes inside the club as well so that’s available for all members and all guests that want to try out the club.”

SNAP Fitness is located at 85D Queensbridge St, Southbank.
