Businesses in Southbank

Since launching his company back in 2004, Lucas Real Estate director Glen Lucas has certainly come a long way.

Today, his company controls a 52 per cent market share of all properties sold in Docklands, has been awarded with multiple national property management accolades and, as he puts it, has well and truly “grown beyond its footprint.”

Having first sold property in Docklands in 2000 with MAB Corporation, Glen’s philosophy for doing business has always been centred on the local community and he is now keen to bring that same passion to Southbank.

“We’re keen to get involved in the community in Southbank and see if we can provide a level of service that they may not be used to,” he said.

“We want Southbank to experience the same level of real estate expertise that our clients in Docklands have enjoyed for over 10 years.”

“Southbank is very comparable to Docklands as far as the property, lifestyle, and facilities are concerned.”

Lucas Real Estate is now recognised as one of Melbourne’s most successful inner-city agencies thanks largely to Glen’s leadership, which was also acknowledged with a Lord Mayor’s Commendation in 2013.

Growing from a team of three to now a two-office network consisting of more than 30 employees, who between them possess more than 500 years of real estate experience, operations manager Lisa Walsh said it was a very happy team.

“Lucas is an employer of choice,” she said. “A third of our team has been with us for over five years, which is unheard of in real estate.”

“We like to think we offer a very professional and personal development for all of our team members in our company.  We wouldn’t do anything else, it’s a career of choice.”

Specialising in residential and commercial property sales, management, leasing and market valuations, Lucas Real Estate offers a fully comprehensive service for all of its clients.

As it continues to enjoy long standing relationships with all of its clients, including many of Melbourne’s most renowned public and private developers, Lisa said building strong connections had always been a priority.

“We’ve got a really good mix. We have multilingual team members so we can converse with all of our clients regardless of their background,” she said.

“We have the ability to communicate with our clients no matter where they are in the world at all times of day, which is very important to us.”

As a long-time Docklands “empty nester,” Glen Lucas is no stranger to the appeal of the inner city lifestyle.

His passion for that lifestyle and the growth of the inner city had always made it easy to engage with the local community and he said he hoped it would be no different in his efforts to extend quality service to Southbank.

“We live in an apartment, we have a holiday house and we travel down there on the weekends it’s just a magnificent lifestyle and that’s what we’re seeing happening here,” he said.

“A lot of empty nesters are selling out of their homes in the suburbs and they’re coming into the city and they’re enjoying a different lifestyle.”

“In Southbank you’ve got the tram at your doorstep and Crown Casino, so from entertainment to theatres and every lifestyle whim, it’s a great place to live and that’s what I love about it.”
