Pet’s corner

Pet’s corner

Sometimes Pet’s Corner is an unbearable chore for pets who don’t want to sit still, let alone smile or at the very least look in the general direction of the camera.

For Princess however, it was more like child’s play.

Princess’s owner Colin has been a prop builder for the Melbourne Theatre Company (MTC) for almost 40 years and for the past year Princess has been coming into Southbank with her owner, and loves getting her photo taken with all the actors and crew members of shows.

Colin says the tradition of getting photos with all the stars from the theatre company started with a previous pet, but Princess has been more than happy to take over the reins.

She also is an extremely obedient dog, thanks to Colin volunteering at the Altona Civic Obedience Dog Club.

Princess is at obedience level six and even has the skills to show other dogs at lower levels how to partake in what they are learning.

Colin says her agility and general obedience are her strengths, but the class work she does is what really impresses onlookers.

She is an extremely friendly dog and for a lot of the day is off her lead, meaning she can roam and visit all of her friends at the MTC.

Colin says it is not uncommon for someone to come and say hi to Princess, without him having any idea who it is.

No doubt Princess has become a bit of an icon at MTC and with her model good looks, the photo sessions don’t look like they’ll end any time soon.
