St Johns Southgate 2017 Art Prize

St Johns Southgate 2017 Art Prize

The Joy In All Things Southbank residents are warmly invited to come to St Johns Lutheran Church, Southgate to enjoy an art prize and exhibition with the theme “The Joy In All Things”.

This exhibition is being held in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and of 20 years of the Bach Cantata Program at St Johns.

(Opening times and further details provided below).

Traditionally we celebrate, learn, and worship through the word and music.
But God’s creation is also complex, joyous and visually beautiful.

To creatively replicate the beauty of creation and to visually represent the joy of being in creation, and in and with God, is one way of sharing the divine.

So, the idea of a visual arts exhibition was born.

There has been a great response from the public to the call for entries and many visual artists have submitted original artworks for this non-acquisitive prize.
Winners will be announced at the opening night on October 19 and entries will then be on display at St Johns for a number of weeks.
A Children’s Art Prize has run in parallel, with three children’s categories: Under 8; 8-14; and 15-16 years.

These works will also be hung for public display.

We hope people find the topic of the art prize inspiring and uplifting and that the experience of The Joy In All Things reaches everyone who has participated in the exhibition and all who come along to see it.

Dates: October 19 through to November 18 Opening times: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 11am - 3pm Saturday, Sunday 12noon - 3pm Times may be slightly adjusted closer to the exhibition dates.
