Black Rider: The Casting of the Magic Bullets

Director Matthew Lutton takes on the decadent and gothic work of William S. Burrough in Black Rider: The Casting of the Magic Bullets come to life at the Malthouse Theatre this month.

Based on a German folktale, Black Rider tells the story of Wilhelm who must learn to hunt in order to marry his true love, the daughter of a woodsman.

Wilhelm must face the consequences of his desperation after he strikes a deal with the devil in exchange for magic bullets that never miss their target.

Victorian Opera and Malthouse Theatre will collaborate in this upcoming dance with the devil, which will bring audiences into “the dark and decadent depths of the underworld”.
