Hats off to our restaurants
Southbank is fast becoming one of the city’s leading dining precincts, according to latest Age Good Food Guide.
The guide lists Rockpool Bar & Grill as the pick of Southbank’s restaurants, after naming it as a prestigious two-hat restaurant – the same rating it received in the 2010 guide.
Maze also maintained its rating from last year, with one hat.
Even more impressive for Southbank are three new restaurants in the exclusive guide – Spice Temple, Bistro Guillaume and The Atlantic all joined Maze with one hat.
This cluster of such high-quality eateries gives Southbank a wide range of fine dining right here on our doorstep.
To add to the great result, Neil Perry’s new restaurant Spice Temple also won the award for best wine list of the year.
The award elevates Perry to one of Melbourne’s most renowned restaurateurs, as he is also in charge of Rockpool Bar & Grill.
Despite this, Perry remains humble, saying of his two-hat rating: “It’s a very important award for us and we are honoured that Rockpool Bar & Grill is regarded as one of the Melbourne’s best restaurants.”
