Maestro performs at St Johns
10th October, 2019
One of the world’s best organists Daniel Bielschmidt put St Johns Southgate’s grand organ through its paces with a special performance on September 19.
As part of the 22nd anniversary of the Lutheran Church’s Bach Cantata Program, St Johns welcomed Mr Bielschmidt all the way from Leipzig University in Germany, who provided a taste of his virtuosic abilities on the organ – an instrument containing 1364 pipes!
As Leipzig University’s organist, he performs in three churches in the city where JS Bach worked from 1723 to 1750 and is considered one of the world’s best on the instrument.
He also performed at Walla Walla in New South Wales and Scots’ Church in the CBD during his brief tour of Australia.
