Once tallest, soon gone
Southbank News | 15th October, 2013
There was a ‘sign of the times’ moment for Southbank last month, when Hanover House, formerly the tallest building in the suburb, was put on the market.
The site, on the north-east corner of City Rd and Power St, will likely be marketed as a prime destination for a high-rise residential apartment complex, given the projects that have been approved in its immediate vicinity.
At seven levels high, Hanover House was developed in 1973 and, until the 1990s, was Southbank’s tallest structure.
That tells you a bit about how far we’ve come in the last 20 years.
