Pug-alicious Promenade

Pug-alicious Promenade

Retired registered nurse Lizzie and her two pugs – also Lizzie, and Steven – might be what one would call regulars along Southbank Promenade. When stopped for a chat with Southbank News, the individual personalities of the petite pugs began to shine through, with owner Lizzie labeling pug Lizzie as “very maternal”, while Steven, all of three months old, was “very playful”. “He’s quite annoying at times,” Lizzie said. “But he’s extraordinarily playful and friends with everybody – he thinks he’s a rock-star when he comes down here, and is always looking for someone to stop and pet him.” And, with a youthful exuberance like that, they normally do. As for the dynamic duo’s individual relationship, the older dog – who already held the name Lizzie when she was adopted – used to be an ex-breeder, and, after being de-sexed, enjoys a “very lovely life” now. “She’s quite maternal to Steven,” Lizzie said, “and he adores Lizzie. She’s loving and sweet.” The relationship with their owner hardly differs as well. “They’re everything to me – I couldn’t survive without them,” she said. “They’re wonderful; they’re my life really. I adore them. They make life better.” •
