The jumpy, gentle giant
He may be big, but he’s not one to fear.
Consultant and local resident Magdalena adopted a Staffy/Whippet cross named Clay just over a year ago and has loved his company ever since.
“We fostered him for a couple months, then we ended up adopting him. My husband was initially hesitant about owning a dog in the city, but he just loved Clay and wanted to keep him too,” Magdalena said, as Clay curiously jumped around in the mid-morning sunshine.
“Working from home and not having to travel allows me to spend time with him.”
Magdalena takes Clay to many different places in the Southbank area and surroundings throughout the week such as the Royal Botanic Gardens, and when the weather permits, he loves a trip to the beach too.
“He loves to get chased”, Magdalena said. “He even tries to eat from other dogs’ bowls, knowing he will get chased after.”
Clay also enjoys chasing possums, thinking they’ll be interested in playing with him, and is great around children too. •
