The Wind in the Willows returns this December

The Australian Shakespeare Company’s classic production, which comes but once a year, returns again this summer.

For the 38th year in a row, the Australian Shakespeare Company will bring laughter and family fun back to the Royal Botanic Gardens with its production of Kenneth Grahame’s timeless novel The Wind in the Willows.

Set among the luscious splendour of the gardens, follow characters Ratty, Mole, Badger, Otter, Portly and Mr Toad as they sing their way through an adventure, interacting with audience members, both young and old, every step of the way.

Picnic blankets, snacks and drinks are encouraged – families can sit together on the grass and follow the actors as they move between locations around the gardens.

“Every year, bringing The Wind in the Willows back to Melbourne’s Botanic Gardens is a joy,” said Australian Shakespeare Company founder and artistic director Glenn Elston.

“There’s nothing quite like watching children and adults alike light up as they’re drawn into the adventure,” he said.

“It’s a celebration of storytelling and community in one of the city’s most stunning settings - ideal for a summer’s day out with family and friends.”

The Wind in the Willows will run from December 20, 2024 to January 25, 2025.
