Vienna comes to Southbank
Southbank News | 13th September, 2011
The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is currently celebrating its 150th birthday and, part of the special year, it is hosting the blockbuster exhibition Vienna: Art & Design.
Vienna captures a rebellious art movement which started in the Austrian town during the early part of the 20th century.
It is this year’s “Winter Masterpiece”, a nationwide art initiative which was introduced as a way of enticing the masses to visit local art galleries.
The spectacular Vienna is not only a wonderful display of paintings from the era, it also includes many sculptures and physical works.
The display includes many high-profile artists such as Gustav Kilmt, Egon Schile and Oskar Kokoschka.
Vienna: Art & Design is open until October 14.
