A very Merry Friend-Mas on December 14

A very Merry Friend-Mas on December 14
Trisha Avery

‘Tis the season to be jolly (we hope) and as we come to the close of 2024, Southbank3006 are delighted to report that we have had another successful year of supporting all of you in Southbank.

We have continued to work with both our federal, state and council representatives to actively lobby for a safer, greener and liveable suburb for both resident and small business.

We continued to ensure, by being ambassadors for Southbank, that those who are making decisions about the future of Southbank at all levels of government have us front and centre of their thinking. Southbank3006’s stance particularly regards the amenities and infrastructure required to support existing and future residents of Southbank, the most densely populated suburb in Victoria.

Our small, passionate and dedicated committee of volunteers, are all locals and spend enormous amounts of their time to attend many meetings, produce events, and put their energy into building our community group.

We especially want to thank MaryKay Rauma, who has been tireless in producing our newsletters, which have a wide distribution and readership and are full of relevant and dynamic information about everything that is happening in Southbank.

Thank you, too, to Jannine Pattison, who commits herself resolutely to supporting and lobbying for the best outcomes for Southbank. Every year Jannine takes the helm in producing our most popular event, the annual Merry Friend-mas, and we know it brings so much joy and connection to you all.

Southbank3006 president David Hamilton is steadfast in donating his time to researching, lobbying, and representing us all to ensure the very best results for Southbank in all areas of concern.

The committee is rounded out with Steve Timmerman our treasurer, who fits in keeping our accounts in order between full time work and study; and Trisha Avery, the group’s secretary and public officer. We thank them all for another successful year of supporting and volunteering for Southbank3006.

A particular thank you goes to our new Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Councillor Nick Reece. His support of Southbank’s liveability and amenity is outstanding, and we are delighted to have created a such a strong partnership with the City of Melbourne, which benefits all Southbankers.

We would also like to thank Ash Lee, our City of Melbourne neighbourhood partner, for all the support and encouragement she provides both Southbank3006 and Southbank as a whole.

And to all of our sponsors, we are so very grateful, and we acknowledge that we could not deliver the events or newsletters without their support of our community engagement activities. They are Pineapple Net, MAP Co, MICM, Southgate, and the City of Melbourne.

Also, to Southbank News and Sean Car, thank you for your continued support of Southbank and for publishing our monthly column. It is an important partnership and a valuable source of information. We are grateful.

And finally, we look forward to seeing you all on Saturday, December 14, for our annual and always popular Southbank3006 festive celebration, Merry Friend-mas.

Bring your families, your friends and your dogs!

If you would like to get involved with your local community group or with our Merry Friend-mas event this year, please contact via our website www.southbank3006.com or our Facebook or Instagram pages,

We wish you all, a peaceful restful and joyous holiday season and look forward to supporting you all in 2025.

See you in 2025! •
