Following a record-breaking season at Adelaide Fringe, the internationally acclaimed immersive experience DARKFIELD returns to Arts Centre Melbourne this summer with INVISIBLE making its Melbourne debut on October 24, alongside the return of audience favourite FLIGHT.

Created by UK-based artistic directors Glen Neath and David Rosenberg, INVISIBLE invites audiences to step inside a 40-foot shipping container transformed into a pitch-black theatre. Using 360-degree binaural sound, the experience blurs the line between imagination and reality, exploring the seductive power of invisibility and the dangerous delusions of a man who believes he can disappear.

“Please welcome to the stage … The Invisible Man. Listen as he teaches you how to disappear,” the show begins. What follows is a disquieting journey that poses an unnerving question: if you can’t be seen, can you still be held accountable for what you do?

INVISIBLE and FLIGHT are ideal for anyone who loves the thrill of multisensory entertainment and immersing themselves in the unknown,” Amy Johnson from Realscape Productions, which produces DARKFIELD in Australia, said.

Following a record-breaking tour across the country, we’re thrilled to be returning to Arts Centre Melbourne with INVISIBLE and can’t wait to see how audiences respond to this latest work.

Meanwhile, FLIGHT takes audiences on an entirely different journey – one split across two worlds, two realities, and two possible outcomes. Inspired by the “many worlds” interpretation of quantum mechanics, FLIGHT suggests that every choice you make unfolds in countless parallel realities. Somewhere, another version of you made the better choice – and lives with fewer regrets.

Both INVISIBLE and FLIGHT combine cutting-edge technology and narrative craft to deliver experiences that are as philosophical as they are thrilling. DARKFIELD’s signature blend of total darkness and hyperreal sound design has been lauded around the world, with shows featured at major festivals including Venice, London, Tribeca and SXSW.

Since its inception, DARKFIELD has drawn more than 700,000 people into its world of sensory storytelling. Each production transforms an ordinary shipping container into an extraordinary theatre of the mind, where participants are placed at the centre of intense, evolving narratives.

Realscape Productions, DARKFIELD’s long-time Australian partner, has built a reputation for producing high-impact immersive theatre. Its projects range from sci-fi spectaculars such as Future Cargo to psychological thrillers like Ghost Stories and one-on-one storytelling pieces including Mummy’s Milk.

“DARKFIELD continues to redefine what theatre can be,” Ms Johnson said. “These shows push audiences to feel, question, and experience the world in new ways.”

INVISIBLE runs for 17 minutes and FLIGHT for 22 minutes. Both will operate at Arts Centre Melbourne from October 24, 2025, to January 4, 2026.
