Delivering for Albert Park in the Victorian Budget

In May, the Allan Labor Government handed down the 2025–26 Victorian Budget – a Budget that delivers real support for households across Albert Park and continues our commitment to investing in the things that matter most: education, community safety, and cost-of-living relief.

We want every young Victorian to have the opportunity to thrive – and that starts with great schools. That’s why this year’s Budget includes $2.63 million for planning and design work on an expansion of South Melbourne Primary School. It’s an investment in our growing community – ensuring local students have the modern, high-quality spaces they deserve.

To help keep our community safe, the Budget also delivers $3.5 million for new CCTV cameras across the City of Melbourne, including Southbank and surrounding areas. This builds on the work we’ve done to ensure our community remains a vibrant and welcoming place for everyone.

We’re also supporting our local sporting clubs, with up to $275,000 allocated for lighting upgrades at Albert Park – Oval No. 11, the home of South Melbourne Football Club. This investment will mean safer and more accessible facilities for players and supporters alike.

Like households across Australia and the world, families in Albert Park are feeling the pressure of rising costs. This Budget delivers direct, targeted support to help ease the burden.

That includes:

  • Free public transport for Victorians under 18
  • Free weekend public transport for all Victorians aged 60 and over
  • Additional funding for food relief organisations
  • Faster, cheaper access to medications, with pharmacists now able to provide scripts for certain treatments
  • Free mental health support via an expanded network of Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals

We know energy bills put real pressure on household budgets. That’s why we’ll be launching the fifth round of the $100 Power Saving Bonus for eligible households holding a concession card.

If you hold a concession card, you’ll be able to apply for the $100 Power Saving Bonus online at the Victorian Energy Compare website or through a participating community organisation.

This is a Budget – and a government – focused on what matters most to Victorians.

Please feel free to contact my office if you need any help with a Power Saving Bonus application or if you have a constituency question – we’re happy to assist. You can email me at [email protected] or call 03 9646 7173 to make an appointment.
