Hotel project underway
8th September, 2017
Construction of a new 16-storey hotel at the site of the former Tow Truck Building at 167 City Rd is now underway.
The brand new purpose built hotel will comprise 162 rooms and is due for completion in late 2018, according to CBRE Hotels.
The hotel will be managed by well-recognised international and Australian hotel operating company Accor Hotels.
Despite calls by some heritage advocates to preserve elements of the former art-deco style Tow Truck Building, it was finally demolished last year having fallen under a serious state of disrepair.
The new hotel is expected to open for service in 2019.
