Police seek public help after alleged sexual assault on Southbank’s Evan Walker Bridge

Police are appealing for public assistance following the alleged sexual assault of a young woman on Evan Walker Bridge in Southbank earlier this year.
Victoria Police said the incident occurred about 9.50pm on Sunday, February 15, when an unknown man approached a group of three women walking along the bridge and allegedly sexually assaulted one of them, an 18-year-old woman, before fleeing the scene.
The bridge, which links Southbank Promenade with Flinders Street Station across the Yarra, is one of the city’s most heavily used pedestrian connections.
Investigators have now released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
According to police, the man is believed to be aged between 35 and 46, with a fair complexion, balding brown hair and a height of about 180cm. At the time, he was wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts and white-and-orange runners.
Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or lodge a confidential report online.
